Boom Overview -
With over 30 years of experience in boom development and production the developers at Glide have assembled a unique range of booms with newly developed components. As we fully understand the requirement of one design racing, all booms have been developed with durability and function in mind.
Carbon 200 – 250 cm -
The Carbon boom is best for the 8.5 rigs and above where the sailors will exert high loads & annual hours of use.
The Carbon boom is of monocoque pre-preg construction. The shape is of proven design and the grip area features an ergonomic profile for maximum comfort and reduced fatigue.
Smart recessed harness line markings allow for easy position adjustment & hand position measurement.
FEATURES -
-
TAPERED - The taper means your cleat doses not slip backwards, you have a stiff light boom, which is easy to hold onto with less chance of your arms getting pumped up.
-
Alloy Lever - The Aluminum boom clam is light & extra stiff
-
WIDE TAIL - The wide tail and 3 pulley tail housing compliments the adjustable out haul system ensuring the boom is not interfering with the clew of the sail during lower outhaul tensions.

Alloy Power Taper 200 – 250cm -
The Alloy power taper boom is best for the 7.8 rig where loads are lower than 8.5 sail & a lower price is more important.
The Power Taper alloy boom is possibly the stiffest alloy boom on the market.
The 33mm diameter tube is tapered down to 29mm in the grip area. The over sized / forged back end results in the stiffest construction on the market for an alloy boom. The Power Taper has identical shape, features and components to the Glide Carbon Boom – it is also a cheaper option for use on the 8.5m Regatta Sail.

Extensions -
The Glide alloy extension range is from durable T8 alloy
The smart stainless adjustment collar is featured on both the Skinny and Std diameter versions
The cleat bases feature a durable stainless connection button and are suitable for use with the Glide Adjustable Downhaul System

Masts -
As a one-design mast, durability, flex and stiffness consistency is the priority.
With this in mind, from day one, we decided on an 80% carbon content and a stable and trusted supplier. The Regatta range of sails have been designed to fit the selected mast and at Glide headquarters we bend test all masts to ensure One Design compliance.
All masts have a unique index print system that allows users to index mark on the circumference to ensure consistent rigging setup for every condition.
Base and section join markings ensure consistent orientation every time while the boom attachment area marking allows for downhaul setting reference as well as boom height and downhaul system positioning.
The white strips are also a good place to write a code or name. The wrap finish grooves are oriented to prevent the boom & down haul rope from slipping down the mast & the serial numbers are easy to read.
The 490 IMCS 29 STD diameter masts fits the Regatta 7.8 and 8.5 sails.
The 400 IMCS 19 skinny mast fits the Regatta 5.9sail and larger beginner sails. It is also a great mast for wave and free ride sails.

Tendon Joint -
This newly developed material is now becoming the standard of the industry.
This is an injection molded urethane compound and has proven to have
higher stability over the unstable hand poured urethanes of the past.
Up to now zero reported breakages.
